Just an Idea 2011

It all started as just an idea standing in a middle of a field in June 2011.
If you are a parent of a child with special needs (in our case Downs Syndrome), you have probably found yourself wondering, as they reach the end of their full time schooling at the age of 18, WHAT NEXT?
Eighteen years of hard work learning to live with disability, encouraging your child to reach their full potential and being part of an education system that teaches them to be independent. When we looked around we were disappointed at the lack of opportunities available for our young adults.
Fantastic we had a college course to access 3 days a week for 3 years, but what about the other days of the week? and then what would happen after the 3 years?
For our son we wanted him to use his education and skills to have responsibilities, to have a role of worth in life and to have a job! As we talked to other parents we found we weren't alone in these desires, which encouraged us to put together a plan to create Forever Savvy.
This video shows the launch of our idea as a pilot project in September 2011, with the support of other parents looking for more for the future of their young adults with special needs.

What's it all about?
